University of Essex Scholarships for International Undergraduate and Master Students in UK, 2016-2017

The University of Essex is offering 60 scholarships for international students . These are available for pursuing undergraduate and master (taught) degree programme at University of Essex.
The Vice-Chancellor has established a major scholarship fund to support international students who are funding their own studies at the University of Essex.
The university is one of the leading research-intensive universities in the UK. Its researchers are daring, visionary thinkers; people who are constantly asking difficult questions.
Applicants should have already completed the first degree with good grades. IELTS score should be 6–7.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing undergraduate and master (taught) degree at University of Essex.
Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded in all disciplines offered by the University of Essex.
Scholarship Award: These scholarship awards will only be made available as a reduction on the tuition fee that is payable on registration at the University.
Undergraduate students:
  • For international undergraduates for our International Foundation Programme / Year 0 of a 4 year Bachelor’s degree: Three £3,000 scholarships
  • For undergraduates from Bangladesh in their first year of study: Two £2,000 scholarships
  • To support applicants to Senior Status Law degree (Canada): Up to ten x £2,000 scholarships
  • For specific institutional links (China): Two £3,000 scholarships
  • For undergraduates from India in their first year of study from specified schools: Five £5,000 scholarships
  • For undergraduates from Malaysia in their first year of study from specified schools: Ten £3,000 scholarships
  • For undergraduates from Nigeria in their first year of study from specified schools: Five £5,000 scholarships
  • Other awards may be allocated under this scheme to high achieving international undergraduates: Up to 5 £2,000 scholarships.
Postgraduate students:
  • For postgraduates from China who work at specified institutions: Three £5,000 scholarships
  • For postgraduates from specified universities in Latin America: Five £5,000 scholarships
  • For postgraduates from the USA: Two £3,000 scholarships
  • Other awards may be allocated under this scheme to high achieving international postgraduates: Up to 5 £2,000 scholarships
Scholarship can be taken in the UK
Eligibility:
  • These scholarships are restricted to applicants who are entirely self-funded and are classified as international students for fee purposes. They are not available to students who are fully or partly sponsored.
  • These scholarships may be awarded to students who have completed the relevant school or university studies in the specified countries (if applicable) and whose declared country of residence is that country.
  • These scholarships may be restricted to applicants from specified schools.
  • Only one scholarship award can be made per student and the award cannot normally be held in conjunction with other University of Essex scholarships.
  • These scholarship awards do not apply for deferred entry. Where a scholarship has been awarded to a student who subsequently defers entry for the following academic year, the award will be withdrawn and the applicant will be considered again in line with the terms and conditions that apply to the new proposed year of entry.

Rhodes Scholarships for International Students at University of Oxford in UK, 2017


Rhodes Scholarships are awarded for pursuing full-time postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford, UK. 95 Rhodes Scholars are selected from many countries around the world annually.
The Rhodes Scholarships are postgraduate awards supporting outstanding all-round students at the University of Oxford, and providing transformative opportunities for exceptional individuals.  The Rhodes Trust provides the Rhodes Scholarships in partnership with Second Century Founder, John McCall MacBain, and other generous benefactors.
The Rhodes Trust is an educational charity whose principal activity is to support scholars selected from 14 constituencies in order to study at the University of Oxford.
All applicants must have achieved academic standing sufficiently advanced to assure completion of a bachelor’s degree.
Course Level: Rhodes Scholars may read for any full-time postgraduate degree at the University of Oxford.
Study Subject (s): Scholarships are awarded to study any courses offered by the University of Oxford at postgraduate level.
Scholarship Award: 95 Rhodes Scholars select annually from many countries around the world. Rhodes Scholarships will cover all University and College fees, a personal stipend and one economy class airfare to Oxford at the start of the Scholarship, as well as an economy flight back to the student’s home country at the conclusion of the Scholarship.

Eligibility:The following eligibility criteria apply to all applicants for the Rhodes Scholarships
  • Citizenship & residency: Each applicant must fulfil the citizenship and residency requirements of the Rhodes constituency for which they are applying.  Please check the detailed information carefully via the country links.
  • Age: Age limits vary between constituencies and range from a minimum age limit of 18 to a maximum of 28 by 1 October of the year following selection. In most constituencies, the age limit is 24 or 25. Please check carefully the specific age requirements for your constituency before applying.  Successful candidates will arrive in Oxford the October following the selection process.  The Scholarship may not normally be deferred.
  • Education: All applicants must have achieved academic standing sufficiently advanced to assure completion of a bachelor’s degree by the October following the election. Academic standing must be sufficiently high to ensure admission to the University of Oxford, which has very competitive entry requirements, and to give confidence that Rhodes Scholars will perform to a high academic standard in Oxford. Individual constituencies may specify a 1st or equivalent.  Some constituencies require an undergraduate degree to have been taken within the constituency of application.

How to Apply: Applications for Rhodes Scholarships open during the spring and summer of the preceding year. All candidates for the Scholarship should read the information about the Scholarships applicable globally and then proceed to their country-specific page. In broad terms, all constituencies will require the following materials in differing forms:
  • Evidence of academic record / transcript (complete or in progress) of undergraduate degree and any postgraduate study
